Currently, 450 million people in 29 countries are facing problems of water scarcity (this number could reach 2.5 billion in 2050). Water resources are unevenly distributed. Indeed,

  • Countries with large water resources : a dozen countries sharing 60% of the renewable natural freshwater in the world: Brazil, Russia, Canada, Indonesia, USA, Bangladesh, China, India, Venezuela and Colombia.
  • Coutries with poor water resources : Kuwait, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Malta, Libya, Singapore, Jordan, Israel, Cyprus.

During this century, water, subject to threats of pollution and affected by many floods and droughts, could be scarce. The water needs of humanity is growing twice as fast as the world's population, blue gold could become a political and economic challenge. A phenomenon that threatens not only the populations, but also peace in the world.
